Monday?

I was determined to take today’s Monday and magically turn it into a Thursday. I like Thursday. Thursday has hope and promise. This was going to require magic as I had to have blood drawn- my veins are sometimes tricky and anxiety about it can hijack my day. I decided to sandwich the vein stick between a sunflower morning and a beach afternoon.

Windows down, sun roof open, Apple Music shuffling, I was well on my way to achieving my Thursday vibes. Clark Farms’ gorgeous nursery and sunflower fields were beautifully bathed in sunlight, goldfinches, bees and butterflies enjoying the seed, nectar and pollen buffet. I’m glad I went today, at the edge of the end of the season, to see the seeded flowers being enjoyed. I strolled. I lingered. I breathed. Sunflowers and a little succulent garden purchased, I headed toward the lab for what I hoped would be a quick jab. I arrived at 12:02 to find a sign indicating that they were closed from 12-12:30 for lunch. Such a Monday thing. I chose to see it as an opportunity to pop home and put my sunnies into water. Perfect. While I cut the flowers, I decided to picnic at the beach. I filled a big mason jar with ice water, my adorable yellow bento box with rice chips, chicken salad and fruit. I was in the condo maybe 5 minutes before I ran back to the car and tossed my things onto the passenger seat. It wasn’t until I pushed the RAV4 start button the second time that I realized my purse was still in the kitchen. My adorably casually cute canvas wristlet style purse from The New Moon Mercantile in Ogden, Iowa. My purse with my keys. My purse with my phone. Such a Monday thing. I hit all the condo buzzers hoping someone would let me in. #7 let me in. #3 has a spare key but wasn’t home. #1 texted #3 for me. Within 30 minutes, I had my purse, my keys, my phone. Not today Monday! A very skilled phlebotomist used a tiny needle and got me with one stick. I drove to a tiny, end of the road, neighborhood beach and lingered. I enjoyed my impromptu picnic. I turned some pages. I breathed. Welcome back Thursday… I’ll see you again in a few days
