Sunday Cake

Sunday is usually for soup. But I wanted cake. I thought of simply walking across the street to Jersey Mike’s for a brownie or to CVS for a simple Hostess fix (everyone who knows me, knows I’m a Little Debbie gal but CVS doesn’t offer my go-to swiss cake rolls) or down the street to one of at least 7 cafes, bakeries or restaurants that offer sweet stuff. Instead, I decided to make a cake. It is rare that I bake. I can and have, of course. Cookies, cakes, pies… they have happened. I’ve enjoyed the process and the results. But I prefer the chopping and seasoning and tasting of cooking over the measuring and mixing of baking. But cake. I really wanted cake. Four hours and 2 trips to the store after I began, cake was eaten.

Yellow Bowl Love 💛

*Notes to self

1) frozen butter takes a long time to soften

2) remember you gave away your round cake pans before the move

3) check your supply of cocoa and powdered sugar before making a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting

4) you really only want 1 piece of cake so walk across or down the street…
