Scallop Shuffle

I’ve been chillazy since our all-day travel on Sunday. It always takes me a few days to acclimate to the normal of my New England life. But today- today I put on a real outfit and mascara. Today I brushed the pine needles off my car. Today I went on an excursion. I needed one more skein of a very specific yarn and I couldn’t find it at my local stash-houses (most call them craft stores.) Today I drove 19 miles for yarn. By Rhode Island thinking, that’s about 10 miles too far. I was driving & vibing to my music and when that magical trance lifted, I had gone way past my exit. I didn’t care as I now added an additional 12 minutes of songs. My shuffle was dealing good stuff-String Cheese, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, KC and The Sunshine Band (and yes, I also want to put on my boogie shoes) Pearl Jam, Jeff Healey, Zepplin (for those paying attention, Robert Plant loves me) Steve Earle, Bill Withers, Cage The Elephant, Hot Chocolate… I found my way to the targeted stash house, found the one needed skein and chose 7 of his closest, prettiest friends to come home with me. My mind wandered to dinner and I stopped for scallops on the way home. I’ve eaten many and I’ve seen Gordon Ramsey red-face-spit-holler about burnt scallops and raw scallops. I have grilled the bacon wrapped ocean-nugs a few times, but I have never seared them. Alexa played more great tunes while I planned and prepped. I went back to my Days Between Jerry Garcia Band and got Dear Prudence, That’s What Love Will Make You Do, Midnight Moonlight, The Harder They Come, They Love Each Other… Fettuccine tossed with sautéed sweetcorn, scallions, garlic and Parmesan topped with beautifully cooked scallops-if I do say so myself- is served 😉😋
