We’re tucked comfortably into our room with a view. It’s been a long day-not in the unpleasant sense that that phrase usually references as pretty much all moments of today have been pleasant. The 282 miles (minus the Bostonian miles) were easy going and lovely. Besides accessing and distributing snacks, I simply looped and pulled my super-bulky, wool blend yarn into double crochet stitches sending wool fuzzies flying; covering the car and creating a sneezy situation. Small splashes of fall colors peeking out from the expanse of Vermont green prompted prolonged pauses in the stitching. We had just enough time to check in, unpack, stretch our legs and grab a finger lickin good bucket of extra crispy before heading to Champlain Valley Expo for some Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Spaced safely, “mask-up” reminders, restroom attendants restricting numbers and maintaining cleanliness… Yes, there were larger groups forming, but most patrons remained in their assigned space. Pigeon shows are a lot. Extra energy, lights, volume… this show was not all that extra. It was just enough. It somehow met me where I am these days and matched my energy. Many medium tempo grooves suited me well. I did get a few of my favorites and a Steve Miller cover that made this 80’s gal smile. We will sleep well. More Vermont tomorrow.
