Sum of its Parts

Our market bags were full of veggies and possibilities. Last Saturday I roasted veggies and made deeply flavored stock. Today’s haul would help that stock become soup. Potato leek with asparagus? Full on veggie? My carrots convinced me. They invoked joy when I chose them-a corkscrew carrot and little bundle of cuteness carrot-and I was feeling compelled to use them. Carrots, celery, onions, potatoes were all purchased from local farmers (Dilly beans and honey crisp apples also found their way into our bags) Good music playing, I enjoyed the chopping and stirring and seasoning and stirring and tasting and stirring. I absolutely love how simple ingredients, when steeped with time and attention, become more. Soup is a classic example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. That’s Yellow Bowl Love 💛
